Rugby Belgium Launches National Women's XV Youth Teams
We are excited to announce the launch of national women's XV youth teams for young players in Belgium.
Our first opportunity to showcase our talent will be on June 1st, as our U16W and U18W teams take on the Netherlands in Den Bosch. Additionally, we will be facing the AURA selection league with our U18W team on the weekend of June 29-30.
Until the end of this season the ages concerned are: U18: 2006-2007, U16: 2008-2009, we welcome girls born in 2010 to attend the open trainings. This ensures exposure for participation the following season.
We kickstarted the process with a first open training with 54 girls present on Wednesday April 24th at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
The program for this season is as follows:
- April 24th: Open training @stadium Nelson Mandela.
- May 8th: Open training @Kituro confirm your attendance
- May 15th: Training @stadium Nelson Mandela
- May 22nd: Training @stadium Nelson Mandela
- May 29th: Training @stadium Nelson Mandela
Furthermore, we are excited to introduce a broader program for U15 and U18 girls, which will be planned and communicated in the near future.
The Power Girl (PG = U15W and U18W) structure is evolving in three key areas:
- PG Festivals: As are ongoing: open to all young female players: focus participation, development and enjoyment.
- PG Championship: To be planned and communicated. Two tournaments will be held throughout the year to crown Belgian champions in the U15W and U18W categories. These tournaments will also serve as talent identification opportunities.
- PG Performance (National Team): We are organizing international matches for our U15W/U16W and U18W teams, with preparatory training sessions to ensure our teams are ready to compete at the highest level.
PG Performance will always be in touch with the adult staffs to ensure that the girls follow the Belgian pathway.
The staff for PG Performance consists of Marie Rutsaert, Gabriel Serbu, Bie Vanmeerbeek, Fanny Fromont. With one backs coach position still open as of now.
We are thrilled to embark on this journey and look forward to seeing the growth and success of women's rugby in Belgium.
